Author’s Guide

1. General Information

Journal of New Technology and Materials (JNTM) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality original research in materials science, materials engineering, nanoscience, nanotechnology, and related areas of new technology. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers, students, engineers, industrial scientists, and academic professionals working in the broad field of materials and technological development.

All manuscripts submitted to Journal of New Technology and Materials must be original, scientifically sound, ethically prepared, clearly written, and relevant to the aims and scope of the journal. Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.

2. Submission Method

Manuscripts must be submitted by email to: submission@newtechmaterials.org

At the initial submission stage, authors must submit the following files:

  • The complete research paper as a PDF file;
  • A cover letter addressed to the editorial office.

The cover letter is mandatory. Submissions received without a cover letter will be considered incomplete, and the editorial office may not process or reply to such submissions. Authors should ensure that both the manuscript PDF and the cover letter are attached before sending the submission email.

3. Email Subject Line

Authors are encouraged to use a clear email subject line when submitting a manuscript. The recommended format is:

Manuscript Submission – [Short Title of the Manuscript]

Example:

Manuscript Submission – Nanostructured Composite Materials for Energy Applications

Using a clear subject line helps the editorial office identify and process submissions efficiently.

4. Cover Letter Requirement

A cover letter must accompany every new submission. The cover letter should briefly introduce the manuscript and confirm that the submission meets the journal’s ethical and editorial requirements.

The cover letter should include:

  • Full title of the manuscript;
  • Name, affiliation, and email address of the corresponding author;
  • A brief statement explaining the importance, originality, and contribution of the work;
  • Confirmation that the manuscript is original and has not been published previously;
  • Confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;
  • Confirmation that all authors have approved the submission;
  • Disclosure of any conflicts of interest;
  • Funding information, where applicable;
  • Ethical approval information, where applicable;
  • A statement that the authors agree to the journal’s open access and copyright policies.

The cover letter should be written professionally and should not repeat the abstract. It should explain why the manuscript is suitable for publication in Journal of New Technology and Materials.

5. Initial Submission Format

For initial submission, authors should send the complete manuscript as a single PDF file. The PDF should be clear, readable, complete, and properly organized.

The initial PDF manuscript should include:

  • Title page;
  • Author names and affiliations;
  • Corresponding author information;
  • Abstract;
  • Keywords;
  • Main text;
  • Figures and tables;
  • Acknowledgments, where applicable;
  • Funding statement, where applicable;
  • Conflict-of-interest statement;

  • Supplementary material information, where applicable.

Authors should ensure that figures, tables, equations, symbols, and references are clearly visible in the PDF file.

6. Manuscript Language

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the language, grammar, terminology, and presentation of the manuscript are suitable for peer review.

Manuscripts with serious language problems may be returned for correction before review or may be rejected if the scientific content cannot be properly evaluated.

7. Article Types

Journal of New Technology and Materials welcomes high-quality scholarly contributions within its aims and scope. Suitable submissions may include:

  • Original research articles;
  • Review articles;
  • Short communications;
  • Technical notes;
  • Case studies in materials development or application;
  • Applied research papers;
  • Theoretical and computational studies;
  • Experimental studies;
  • Interdisciplinary studies related to new technology and materials.

All submissions must make a clear contribution to the field and must be supported by appropriate methods, evidence, analysis, and references.

8. Manuscript Structure

Although the structure may vary depending on article type, original research articles should generally include the following sections:

Title

The title should be concise, informative, and specific. It should clearly reflect the main subject of the manuscript.

Authors and Affiliations

The manuscript should list the full names of all authors, their institutional affiliations, and the email address of the corresponding author.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal during submission, peer review, revision, proof correction, and publication.

Abstract

The abstract should provide a clear summary of the study, including the background, objective, methods, main results, and conclusion. It should be written as a standalone summary and should not contain unnecessary citations.

Keywords

Authors should provide appropriate keywords that reflect the subject, methods, materials, and applications discussed in the manuscript. Keywords help indexing, searchability, and discoverability.

Introduction

The introduction should explain the background of the study, identify the research problem, review relevant literature, and clearly state the objective, novelty, or research question of the manuscript.

Materials and Methods

The methods section should describe the materials, experimental procedures, instruments, models, computational methods, simulations, analytical techniques, or theoretical approaches used in the study.

The description should be sufficiently detailed to allow readers and reviewers to understand how the work was conducted.

Results

The results section should present the findings clearly and logically. Results may be supported by tables, figures, graphs, equations, spectra, images, or other relevant evidence.

Authors should avoid unnecessary repetition between text, figures, and tables.

Discussion

The discussion should interpret the results, compare them with previous studies, explain their significance, describe limitations, and identify possible implications for materials science, engineering, nanotechnology, or related fields.

Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main findings and contributions of the study. It should be concise and should not simply repeat the abstract.

Acknowledgments

Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, laboratories, or organizations that contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

Funding Statement

Authors should disclose all sources of funding, financial support, grants, institutional support, equipment support, or material support related to the research.

If no funding was received, authors may state: This research received no external funding.

Conflict-of-Interest Statement

Authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, institutional, or academic conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

If there are no conflicts of interest, authors may state: The authors declare no conflict of interest.

Data Availability Statement

Where applicable, authors should state whether the data supporting the findings of the study are available and how they may be accessed.

Examples include:

The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

or

All data generated or analyzed during this study are included in this published article.

References

References should be accurate, complete, and relevant. Authors are responsible for checking the correctness of all references before submission.

9. Figures and Tables

Figures and tables should be clear, properly numbered, and cited in the manuscript text.

Figure captions should explain the content of the figure clearly. Table titles should be concise and informative. Authors should ensure that all symbols, units, labels, and legends are readable.

Figures should not be manipulated in a way that changes or misrepresents the research findings. Any image adjustment should be applied consistently and should not obscure meaningful scientific information.

If a figure, table, or image has been reproduced or adapted from another source, authors must obtain permission where required and must provide proper acknowledgment.

10. Units, Symbols, and Equations

Authors should use standard scientific notation, internationally accepted units, and consistent symbols throughout the manuscript.

Equations should be clearly written and numbered where necessary. All variables and parameters should be defined when first introduced.

11. References and Citation Accuracy

Authors should cite relevant and reliable literature. References should support the background, methodology, analysis, and discussion of the manuscript.

Authors must avoid citation manipulation, excessive self-citation, unrelated references, or citation practices intended only to increase citation counts.

Every reference cited in the text should appear in the reference list, and every reference in the reference list should be cited in the text.

12. Ethical Requirements

Authors must follow responsible research and publication practices. Submitted manuscripts must not contain plagiarism, fabricated data, falsified results, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or manipulated images.

Research involving human participants, animals, biological materials, hazardous substances, environmental sampling, or sensitive data must comply with applicable ethical and institutional requirements.

Where ethical approval is required, authors must provide the name of the approving body, approval number where available, and a statement confirming compliance with relevant ethical standards.

13. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the work. All listed authors must approve the manuscript before submission and must agree to be accountable for their contribution.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version.

Gift authorship, guest authorship, honorary authorship, and ghost authorship are not acceptable.

14. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be clearly justified and must be approved by all authors. The journal may require a written authorship-change statement signed by all authors, including any author being added or removed.

Authorship changes after acceptance or publication are handled carefully and may require a formal correction notice.

15. Plagiarism and Similarity Checking

Journal of New Technology and Materials may screen submitted manuscripts for similarity to previously published work. Similarity is evaluated according to context, source, extent, and location within the manuscript.

Manuscripts containing plagiarism, unattributed copying, excessive overlap, duplicate publication, or unethical reuse of previous work may be rejected or investigated under the journal’s publication ethics policy.

16. Peer Review

Journal of New Technology and Materials follows a single-blind peer-review process. In this model, reviewers know the identity of the authors, but reviewer identities are kept confidential from the authors.

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers for evaluation. Reviewers assess originality, scientific quality, methodology, interpretation, clarity, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

The peer-review process usually takes approximately 60 days, although the timeline may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and revision requirements.

18. Editorial Decisions

After review, the editor may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept;
  • Minor revision;
  • Major revision;
  • Reject and resubmit;
  • Reject.

Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, scientific soundness, relevance to the journal’s scope, ethical compliance, and reviewer recommendations.

19. Revision Submission

When revision is requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response letter.

The response letter should address every reviewer and editor comment point by point. Authors should explain what changes were made and where they appear in the revised manuscript.

If authors disagree with a comment, they should provide a respectful and evidence-based explanation.

20. Acceptance and Production

After a manuscript is accepted, it enters the production stage. The production process may include copyediting, formatting, metadata checking, proof preparation, author proof review, and final online publication.

The usual time from acceptance to publication is approximately 10 days, provided that authors respond promptly to proof corrections and no major production issues arise.

Accepted papers are published in the current available issue once they are ready for publication.

21. Publication Frequency

Journal of New Technology and Materials publishes two issues per year, in June and December.

Accepted articles are assigned to the current available issue and are published after completion of the production process.

22. Open Access and Copyright

Journal of New Technology and Materials is a diamond open access journal. The journal does not charge authors article processing charges, submission fees, peer-review fees, publication fees, or page charges.

Articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication.

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, published articles may be read, downloaded, copied, shared, distributed, adapted, and reused, provided that proper credit is given to the original author(s), the article, the journal, and the publisher.

23. Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should confirm that:

  • The manuscript is within the aims and scope of Journal of New Technology and Materials;
  • The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere;
  • The manuscript is prepared as a complete PDF file;
  • A cover letter is attached;
  • All authors have approved the submission;
  • Author names, affiliations, and corresponding author details are correct;
  • The abstract and keywords are included;
  • Figures and tables are cited and numbered correctly;
  • References are complete and accurate;
  • Funding information is included, where applicable;
  • Conflict-of-interest statement is included;
  • Ethical approval statement is included, where applicable;
  • Data availability statement is included, where applicable;
  • Permissions for third-party material have been obtained, where required.

24. Incomplete Submissions

Submissions that do not include the required manuscript PDF and cover letter may be treated as incomplete.

The editorial office may not acknowledge, process, or reply to submissions submitted without a cover letter. Authors are therefore strongly advised to check all attachments before sending their manuscript to the journal.
